Jean Stockard
Director of Research


Dr. Stockard is a renowned sociological researcher and analyst of social and behavioral phenomena, serving as the President of the Pacific Sociological Association in 2002-3. For over 30 years, she was on the faculty at the University of Oregon; and, since partial retirement from the University of Oregon, has worked as the Director of Research for NIFDI. Dr. Stockard has extensive expertise in research design and advanced statistical methods. She has authored seven books and dozens of research articles on sociological themes and methodological issues. Her extensive publication list includes a series of articles regarding Direct Instruction, including work regarding the impact of DI on student achievement at different grade levels and with different student populations, analyses of the role of implementation fidelity and support on student achievement, and issues regarding research design in studying the effectiveness of curricula.
