Research Studies

Dozens of studies have documented that Direct Instruction is superior to other curricular programs. These studies have involved students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. They have occurred in settings ranging from the inner city to small rural schools. They have examined curricula ranging from teaching beginning reading and mathematics to reasoning skills and music. Studies have included both advantaged and disadvantaged students and those with wide ranges of experience and abilities. The list below includes studies on Direct Instruction spanning the last half century.
