Alisa Kerr has been working with the Direct Instruction curriculum since receiving her Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Early Childhood from the University of Texas–Pan American in 2012. As a long-time employee of IDEA Public Schools, Alisa has taught several DI programs, including RMSE K-2, Signature Language K-1, and CMC B and C. Alisa also has several years of experience being a Direct Instruction Coach, both at IDEA Carver, as well as at IDEA Rundberg, where she conducted daily classroom observations, analyzed data, gave on-the-spot coaching, and held performance reviews and evaluations as part of her role as Assistant Principal of Instruction.
Alisa was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society and earned a spot on the UTPA Dean’s List repeatedly. She was named both Teacher of the Year and Regional Teacher of the Year for her work at IDEA Carver during the 2013-14 school year.
