Billie Overholser is an experienced Direct Instruction (DI) trainer and Implementation Manager with 35 years experience as a teacher in Kindergarten through third grade classrooms in public schools in Colorado, Arizona and Oregon. In 1958, she began her teaching career in Montrose Public Schools and Greeley Public Schools in Colorado. In 1963, she accepted a position with Tempe Public Schools in Arizona. Then, in 1966, she moved to Eugene, Oregon where she worked for School District 4J until 1996.
Since 1996, Billie has worked as a DI trainer and coach. From 1996 to 1998, she was an Implementation Manager for NIFDI in Chicago and Baltimore. From 1998 to 2000, she worked for the Advantage School DI charter school company in Phoenix and Malden, Massachusetts. From 2000 to 2004, she was employed as a consultant by the Mosaica Education charter school company for DI language arts and math in schools in Phoenix, Philadelphia, New Jersey and Michigan in grades pre-k through 8. She then served as the NIFDI Coordinator of Training from 2004 to 2006 before working as a consultant for the Center for Applied Research in Education (CARE) in the Los Angeles area.
Since 2007, she has worked as an Implementation Manager for NIFDI in Nebraska, northern Arizona and Texas. Billie holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Oregon with a minor in Behavior Management.
