Effects of Direct Instruction intervention for fraction skills

Perkins, V.; Cullinan, D.
Abstract:
This study examined the effects of the Direct Instruction program, Fractions I, on fraction skill acquisition of three third grade students. Daily fraction probes were given to assess skill acquisition. Results indicate that the rate of problems correct increased, while the rate of problems incorrect decreased for all students. Fraction problem solving performance improved for students not previously exposed to fractions instruction. (Copyright © 2011, National Institute for Direct Instruction (NIFDI). All rights reserved).
