Alisa Kerr has been working with Direct Instruction since earning her Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Early Childhood Education from the University of Texas–Pan American in 2012, along with a graduate certificate in Instructional Design.
During her seven years with IDEA Public Schools, Alisa taught more than 15 Direct Instruction programs and coached educators across more than 20 programs. She also served as a Direct Instruction Coach and later as Assistant Principal of Instruction.
Alisa has since expanded her impact through regional leadership roles, coaching school leaders and teachers on successful Direct Instruction implementation. She has served as an Implementation Manager, Trainer, and Partnership Liaison for NIFDI, partnering with schools and organizations to support high-fidelity implementation and improved student outcomes for the last 7 years.
Throughout her career, Alisa has been recognized for her excellence in education, earning honors including Teacher of the Year, Regional Teacher of the Year, and Primary Academy of the Year.
Passionate about educational equity, Alisa believes Direct Instruction creates opportunities for every student to succeed. Having witnessed its transformative impact as a classroom teacher, instructional leader, implementation coach, and parent, she is committed to helping schools deliver effective, evidence-based instruction that changes lives.
