IDEA Public Schools congratulates the Engelmann Family and the National Institute for Direct Instruction (NIFDI) for their commitment to excellence in training and execution of IDEA’s new core curriculum, Better IDEA, powered by Direct Instruction (DI).

The “Award for Leadership in Education” is IDEA’s most prestigious award for sustained commitment to academic excellence. In granting the award, IDEA recognized the Engelmann Family and NIDFI for its support in providing high-level and ongoing support in implementing the DI model.

IDEA Public Schools is committed to transforming student results. To achieve this goal, IDEA piloted Better IDEA, powered by Direct Instruction, at IDEA Academy San Juan. In just one semester, IDEA Academy San Juan converted the entire campus to the Direct Instruction curriculum, and in the process put all students on path to on-level or above-level reading and math. Based on the impressive success of the DI program at IDEA Academy San Juan, IDEA Public Schools has implemented Direct Instruction across all IDEA elementary campuses.

IDEA shares the Engelmann Family and NIDFI’s belief that through practice, coaching, continuous improvement and fidelity to the DI model – and always teaching to mastery – teachers will be the constants, not the variables, in our program.
